Commercial HQ Match Report

       Commercial were back to Cup action this week in the JFC Sunday Trophy Round 2 against the top side in Division 3.They found themselves quickly 3 goals down as they struggled to keep possession in the strong windy conditions. They did grab a goal back before half time as Antony Jones's shot was parried by the goalkeeper and was tapped into an empty net on the follow-up by Lee Bull. Matters wern't made any easier for the Commercial as Chris Jones was shown a yellow card, quickly followed by a red card for dissent.

       Commercial seemed to find playing with 10 men easier then playing with 11, especially with the strong wind behind them. Matty Simon got Commercial back into the game early in the second half as he lobbed the goalkeeper from all of 30 yards. The numbers were then evened up as the Rothwell goalkeeper was given his marching orders for bring down Jono Harding when through on goal. With an outfield player in goal you would think this would benefit the Commercial, but the acting goalkeeper actually turned out to be the first choice goalkeeper who had been playing outfield this game. Matty Simon got Commercial within a goal of Rothwell with another lob, this time from the edge of the box after Jono Harding played him through on goal. Jono Harding again fed Matty Simon late in the game from the Commercial right, but his shot was tipped onto the crossbar and out for a corner, and that was a close as the Commercial came to getting level. Now its time to concentrate on the league and our upcoming Presidents Cup Semi Final against Pudsey 2005.
