4-5
Hunslet Wellington

The Commercial suffered their first pre-season defeat of the season, but showed themselves to be a strong side against their Premier Division opponents and should be a hard team to beat in Division Two this season. The Commercial got off to the perfect start after five minutes when Paul Simon cut in from the left before un-leashing a stunning drive into the top right hand corner. Hunslet Wellington quickly equalised with a stunning goal of their own which dipped and swerved over the out stretched arm of keeper Kieran Sutcliffe. Hunslet took the lead shortly after this before Chris Jones levelled things up, slotting home into an empty net after dispossesing the keeper on the edge of the box. But just on the stroke of half time Hunslet again took the lead after some poor Commercial defending.

Both teams went at each other at the start of the second half but it was the Commercial who struck first. Kieran Sutcliffe's long punt down field was mis-handled by the Hunslet keeper and Nick Sutcliffe rolled the ball home to level the scores. Its was the Commercial's turn this time to take the lead. Man of the Match Adi Dosdworth played the ball into the feet of Paul Simon, and he again cut in from the left before driving hard and low into the bottom left corner for his second goal of the game. This lead was again short lived as Hunslet struck back within ten minutes to level the scores at 4-4. For the last fifteen minutes of the game both teams had chances to win and both had dubious goals ruled out for offside and handball respectively. But with time almost up a lapse in concentration from the Commercial led to Hunslet grabbing the vital goal for victory. But overall the Commercial can take heart from pushing one of the top Premier Division sides all the way and can look forward to what should be a successful season.
