Commercial HQ Match Report

       Commerial picked up their first league win of the season with a confident display, in which they could have won the game by more. The score line did flatter the visiting team, but the Commercial were holding on by the end of the game. Paul Simon opened the scoring for the home side. Matt Varley cut in from the left and unleashed a rasping driving that cannoned back off the post, but Paul Simon was there to slot home the rebound. Jono Harding extended the lead when he slid the ball home from an acute angle, after Antony Jones swung the ball in from the right wing. Harehills did briefly fight back in the first half to get within one goal of the Commercial, but Paul Simon put paid to that come back, heading home Jono Harding's right wing cross.

       It was a closer contest in the second half, but Commercial were always in control but struggled to put the visitors away. This did nearly cost them as Harehills pulled back to within one goal of the home side towards the end of the game. But the Commercial defended resolutely and held on for the victory heading into next weeks Presidents Trophy semi final against Pudsey 2005!
