Commercial HQ Match Report

       In the battle of the Commercial's it was HQ that came out on top in a dominant performance to take them into next weeks opening league fixture in good spirits and form. HQ were out of the blocks quickly and soon had the lead when Matty Simon slipped the ball through to Jono Harding who then brilliantly lobbed the ball over the out rushing keeper from 25 yards. That lead was quickly doubled when Antony Jones dispossed the Wortley right back and then attempted to lift the ball to the back post from the left hand side of the penalty area, which he did but the cross went closer to the goal than he anticipated, drifting into the far post with the goalkeeper rooted to the spot. HQ added a third before half time, Matty Simon  breaking in down the left before crossing for Jono Harding to slot home his second of the game from close range.

       It was much the same in the second half. Antony Jones played in Chris Jones and he turned and struck a low shot that seemed to take an age to cross the line, but cross the line it did with the goalkeeper just stood watching the ball nestle in the net. Then Chris Jones turned provider as he slipped the ball into the path of Jono Harding on the right, and his low angled drive was too hot for the goalkeeper to handle and it found the far corner to complete his hat-trick. Paul Simon was the next provider of a goal as he played in Matt Varley down the right who calmly rounded the goalkeeper to slot home the ball from a tight angle. Matt Varley completed the scoring for HQ, getting on the end of Antony Jones's left wing cross like an express train to fire home his second of the game from close range. Wortley did pull a goal back from a corner late on but it was a fine performance from the home side and a great end to pre-season!
