Commercial HQ Match Report

       Commercial went down to a narrow defeat to their promotion rivals in a very evenly contested game, but one with very few clear chances. The home side went closet first, but goalkeeper Antony Kirby tipped the shot over the bar, then later in the half Antony Jones cleared off the line. Commercial did have the ball in the net but the goal was ruled out for offside.

       The game was a tight contest in the second half, again with few chances, but the home side did finally break the deadlock. Antony Jones charged the first shot down on the edge of the box, but the rebound dropped to the striker's feet and he turned and shot home low into the corner of the net unchanllenged. Jono Harding was brought on after this goal and his pace started to unlock the home defence and he and Matty Simon combined well. But the only real chance Commercial had in the second half was when Jono Harding fired over from just inside then box when played in by Matty Simon. So a narrow defeat for the away side but a big improvement on the last meeting between the two sides - a 6-2 win for Wellington, and Commercial will be strenghtened next week with the return of joint top scorer Chris Jones from suspension.
