It was Commercial's best team performance of the season as the out played and out muscled Division 2 table toppers the Wykebeck Arms in their own back yard to book a place in the 4th Round. Commercial dominted from start to finish and quickly took the lead through the returning Jody Rowe. He chased down an Adi Dodsworth long ball to fire home from an acute angle on the left. Matty Simon nearly added to that lead, but his long range effort was turned round the post and his header drifted wide of the far post. Then it was Matty Simon's turn to save the away side as he brilliantly tracked back to clear off the line as the home side pressed for the equaliser. The second half continued in much the same vein as the first and the Commercial doubled their lead early in the second half. Neat play from Jono harding and Wayne Jubb led to Lee Bull receiving the ball and curling a fantastic 20 yard effort into the bottom right hand corner. Commercial again pressed on, not happy with just to two goals, and Matty Simon's chest and volley effort went agonisingly wide. But the third goal did come. Chris Jones ripped apart the home side down the right before un-selfishly squaring the ball to the supporting Nick Sutcliffe to tap the ball home into the empty net. When the home side did get in a shot, they found goalkeeper Kieran Sutcliffe in inspired form, with one save he pulled off being of Premiership standard. The home midfielder fired in a rasping drive from 25 yards that looked to be arrowinging into the top left hand corner, but Kieran somehow got up to turn the ball out for a corner when goal looked written all over the shot. The best performance of the season by some way, which is the reason the Man of the Match awards for both Player and Manager were given to every player, and is certainly something to build on for the rest of the season.
